Los Patos Park surrounding area

Can anyone tell me what the area is like around this hotel? It looks a bit isolated. Are there cafes / bars close by? (without walking all the way to the marina). We stayed in La Carihuela last year and loved walking along the prom with the kids to get ice cream and look in the shops. Is there anything like ne this near the Los Patos Park hotel?

The marina is not the "be all and end all" of Benalmadena, its less than 10% of the attraction to the resort. There are many bars and restaurants around Los Patos. The walk to the marina is either along the main coast road, lined with bars/restaurants and shops or on the lower paseo again lined with bars/restaurants. The main road obviously not as pedestrian friendly as the paseo or as La Carihuela. You also have the option of walking a couple of streets back owards La Paloma park, selwo marina and on to Arroyo or Bonanza/Ibensa Squares for a wider slection of bars etc.

Yes, Los Patos is at the quieter end of the main strip but in no way is it isolated.

Great thanks. That's good to know. We weren't huge fans of the marina anyway (the Carihuela prominade is much nicer). Just wanted to make sure we could go for evening walks and get the kids an ice cream or call in somewhere for a drink.

Head up to Arroyo (the spanish town behind the coastal strip) for better shops and walk along the main street (and back streets) for more variety. Bus M103 from the main coast road or off Ave Palmeras (palm tree ave) or just walk.

Kids will love Paloma park and there are plenty of ice cream bars in Arroyo.

If you have not been to the park at Montemar Alto train station then try that also.

The walk to the marina and beyond is wonderful, we make that walk every day.

Great transport links here also.

My son stayed at the Los Patos last year with his two young children, he found it too far out for his liking with young children as there main centre of childrens activities was paloma park or the marina with its two childrens play areas.

He obvioulsy knows the area well at it was the water park facilities that persuaded him to move to the Los patos, unfortunatley althoughy this a big plus, the location a big minus.

He found the limited options of local transport especially to Arroyo/Mijas a big minus, 66% less option to Arroyo, non to Mijas..

My son loves the tapas culture as do the children and that is basically non existant in the area and it was a bus to Arroyo or Torremolinos, in the bali, just a short walk up the hill.

WAlking from the los alamos to the marina is quite effected by the main road until the windmill roundabout, you dont have the wide paseo as you do walking from the carihuela to the marina. However, it does have the same volume of restuarants and ice cream parlours, just more visable traffic.
