Lots of things to do in and around Arroyo (not ArroyA, it means 'stream' as in small river) and if you search in this forum there are lots of threads about tapas and restaurants. Arroyo is also where Benalmádena train station is so trips to Málaga City (a must), Torremolinos, Fuengirola etc. are easy.

Tivoli World and the dreaded cable-car are on your doorstep, frequent buses to Mijas Pueblo pass through Arroyo too. It's a nice walk down to the beach, Marina etc. through Paloma Park, but get the bus back!

Arroyo de la Miel is the small spanish town of Benalmadena. Thank goodness there still aren't many british bars here, so it's a bit like a town in the K 30 years ago! If you want a very special meal (not cheap) try Rincon de Astaurias which is tucked in next to the church. There are also lots of tapas bars in Arroyo, I think you'll find a thread on it somewhere if you do a search. The best tapas bars are the very spanish ones (they tend to look a bit scruffy and are often full of old men), but are great for food, price and atmosphere! There is also a really good fish restaurant if you walk up the pedestrianised path past the church, walking away from the station, it's at the top of the road - you'll see tables and chairs outside. Opposite the station, but a bit to the left is Blas Enphante (it is also pedestrianised). Walk down there and keep walking downhill. You will come to Parque de Paloma. It is an amazing park with a large lake and small animals roaming around. You can stop there an hour or two and have a drink in one of their bars, then make your way further downhill until you get to the Paseo. You will find a number of fish restaurants and chiringuitos along there, walk to your left and you will eventually come to the marina where there are some more restaurants.

Have a good trip!
