Avice Caro's House

A frequent visitor, I'll be staying on Portland very soon, yet despite this I've never got round to visiting this house which is featured in Hardy's 'Well Beloved'.

I heard that this building is now a museum but haven't had that corroborated. Can anyone help please?

There are two cottages which together form Portland Museum. One of the cottages was the inspiration for the home of Hardy’s heroine, Avice Caro. The museum is open from Sundays to Thursdays between 10:30am to 4pm until the end of October. Admission £3.50

A lovely, interesting little place. We arrived late-1530-as i was delayed elsewhere but the lovely lady there allowed us free entry for the remaining time. I much appreciated this gesture, and will definitely return.

I visited the museum about 6 weeks ago, it is small but very interesting and I will be visiting again soon.
