Are their any restrictions on dogs swimming in rivers around the Ardeche?
People swim in it, canoe in it and a few extra dogs swimming in it aren't going to make much difference.
As long as it's in the shallower parts and slower flowing parts then there will be no restrictions whatsoever - only the safety aspect of you and the dog.
Enjoy your holiday.
You can't ignore the many local restrictions from 10 am to 7 pm..
Here is an example, also applying to outdoor markets in Saint Martin, all day, year round.
Thank you that is very helpful
I've seen lots of dogs swimming in the river, also seen dogs (with owners) kayaking down the river, though personally I wouldn't suggest unless your a good canoeist taking your dog on a canoe/kayak.
When we were at the Pont d'Arc last fall there were dogs swimming with owners in the river.
Just to keep people updated. We swam in the river with our dog. It seems the issue is some of the beaches don't allow dogs but where we were staying allowed it. There were also plenty of dogs in the kayaks! I suspect it also depends on the time of year. We were there in September and many of the 'no dogs' signs were simply ignored, it may be different in peak season.
