Beaufort or Hilton Head to visit on the way to Charleston?

Since we are not golfers which is suggested with more to do for a day and night visit when we drive from Savannah to Charleston? Thank you for any input.

I'd go for Beaufort...

visit the Old Sheldon Church Ruins, visit the waterfront, a few shops, have a good dinner, the Best Western is right there, good for a night and includes breakfast.

Take a drive through the National Cemetary, just to pay your respects.

You can go on out to Hunting Island St. Park and the lighthouse, if you have time.

On your way to Charleston you can stop at The Angel Oak, The Tea Plantation and winery/distillery...

Definitely Beaufort!

You can easily visit one of the Charleston area beaches for the day while you are here: and/or, you can drive out to Hunting Island State Park near Beaufort for unspoiled natural beach southcarolinaparks.com/huntingisland/introdu…

Hilton Head is a marvelous beach destination (even if you do not golf); but, it is better set for multi-night residential stays than for the quick overnight or daytrip.

Nothing more I need to add... thanks as always to my TA Kiawah friends for helping me out when I'm away!

The only thing I'll add is to check out this page to learn more about Beaufort:

Another vote for Beaufort. In my opinion, Hilton Head is nothing but a big, planned tourist community.
