Safe downtown running route

Hi,

I am going to be in Pittsburgh this weekend. I am training for a 10k and I am supposed to run 3 miles on Sunday. I absolutely dread the thought of running on a treadmill so I was thinking about getting up early and taking a run around downtown. We are staying at the Doubletree and this is the route that I've mapped out: http://www.runningmap.com/?id=190783

Is this ok? Is it interesting? Would I be better off going somewhere else?

Thanks for your help!

I couldn't view the map of your planned route, so I can't comment on it, and don't know if you know about the trail system along the shores of Pittsburgh's three rivers:

…about.com/od/downtown/p/heritage_trail.htm

The North Shore Trail extends in both directions from points across the Allegheny River from Downtown. Head west and you'll be running on paved surfaces past PNC Park, Heinz Field, Carnegie Science Center and the casino. Head east and you'll be on smooth, level, crushed gravel surfaces along a tree-lined riverbank.

Good luck in the race!

Huh. For some reason I guess it only lets me view it. I did not know about the trails - I will definitely check it out! Thanks so much for your help! :)
