paulina plunge

Hello, we will be in Bend in june for a week or so and are wondering if we can do this ride on our own or whether we must sign up for a tour.

We have the gear, so we would'nt need any rental.

I don't see why you couldn't do the ride yourself since it's on public land. Talk to people at a local bike shop when you get to Bend. I've not biked but have hiked the Peter Skene Ogden Trail along Paulina Creek. It's open for bikers uphill only. It's very scenic and follows the creek the last half, passing a number of waterfalls. Keep in mind that there's nearly a 3000 foot elevation gain along the trail's 8 mile length. Return is via a dirt road on the south side of the creek or the paved road.
