What are your favourite things to do in Bowen?
Other than eat Mangoes?
You can swim in Horseshoe Bay at any stage of the tide, but best when high. I envied those who could snorkel. Saw my first 'sea hare' (looked like a big snail). Water clear but still very cold in early Sept. We just made the low tide walk towards the lighthouse and I was bowled over by the beauty of the Starfish. Next visit I hope I can hire a bike as it is pretty flat for cycling (and walking).
Eat lots of fresh fish from the fish market, but be prepared to pay top dollar for quality.
Take a drive to former mining town, Collinsville.
I was so sorry not to find an open art gallery while there. Bet tourists would pay to attend an art class.
Some people were attending a 'wellness retreat' while we were these - Yoga at sunrise etc.
I love Bowen. But be advised that if over 73 you can't hire a car and there is not the demand for full-on public transport. Will be back next year and see how we go using the infrequent bus and the taxi.
Relax, enjoy the beach. Some nice pubs to visit.
Folks it’s a 5yo post... posted by a business....
