It is possible but somewhat of a long walk. They have taxis and bike taxis that will be happy to transport you around
I've walked it frequently, but it's not for eveyone (I like walking). The distance is about 4 to 5 km (that's a couple of miles for you) each way.
From the port, you first walk through the residential area called Las Casitas, then along the highway until you reach the lighthouse where the Malecon begins. There's not much shade (none on the highway) so wear a hat.
Great, thank you!
When I was at Mahahual, there was a fairly rough path that followed the shoreline from the port area to the lighthouse, but I don't think there was access from the port.
If you can access that path from the port, the distance is only about 1.5 to 2 km to the Malecon.Edited: 09 January 2018, 23:01
We will check into it--thank you!
How much would a taxi cost ?
This will explain the ways to get into town. Taxi shouldn't be more than 2-3 $US per person.
