I've been through Ravensthorpe and my impression is that there's not a whole lot there, but that could well be the attraction for some.

Fitzgerald River National Park is nearby, and it's certainly unique.

Esperance is less than a two hour drive from Ravensthorpe, and while it's no metropolis, it's gorgeous with loads of outdoor activities on offer.

If you are there in winter and spring you can see whales close up in the bay at Point Anne in the Fitzgerald National park and the wildflowers are lovely too. The Cape Le Grand National Park near Esperance is fantastic with great camp sites. Avoid summer months if you can and if you are getting a car choose an all wheel drive or a 4 wheel drive.
