Things to Do and See

I am going to be coming to High Point and would like to extend my stay by making day trips out of High Point. What are some good places to go and visit that are within an hour's drive from town?

Don't forget a short trip to see really BIG furniture.

It's close by and who can resist having their picture taken with it, just for FUN! :)

The giant chair in Thomasville, NC

and the giant Bureau in High Point.

When we lived there (1996 - 1998) they were renovating the Dresser building.

It was rather plain looking prior to reno.

My husband was the plant manager for Carpenter Co, the company that made the detail work for the giant bureau such as the queen anne legs and the socks, and was actually right there while they worked on it.

The special shapes are made out highly dense expanded polystyrene, which he helped cut right there at their plant in Archdale.

I remember him telling me that "Sara Lee Hosiery" sponsored the socks.

Up until then I thought Sara Lee was only baked goods, lol.

Definitely worth a quick trip to see! :)
