Struck waiting in Greensboro Monday and Tuesday

High point, Winston Salem etc that I hope may have a high end hotel and nice street scene with

Local shops and restaurants

Any suggestions appreciated

Ummm....not really.

You're not stuck in the middle of nowhere, but "high end" hotels and a great street scene don't really exist there. The O.Henry is about the nicest hotel in Greensboro and it's really not all that amazing.

There's not much in Winston and High Point is just awful.

About the closest thing to a street scene is downtown Greensboro:

I'm assuming you will have a loaner or rentale car. If so, you could check out Reynolds Village and Old Salem in Winston, or go a little further afield check out Chapel Hill or Saxaphaw ( about an hour from Greensboro) or even Blowing Rock ( about two hours). Both G'Boro and Winston have really nice baseball parks, right downtown. One or the other should have a game scheduled. If you don't have a car, I would recommend either the Proximity or O'Henry in Greensboro, or the Brookstown Inn in Winston and crank up your Uber App.

Since you mention Winston-Salem and High Point, then we are assuming you have a rental or loaner vehicle. Old Salem is pretty cool to walk around for a half day or so. (depending on how long you spend in the stores there). Sounds like there is really only gardens and parks and a museum or two in Greensboro. High Point is known for its furniture shops, so...if you are into that...there's that.

Have to admit, I am a bit curious as to why you have to wait 2 days for a car repair...and why Greensboro, seeing you are from West Palm Beach? Just wondering.
