New Years Eve

Hello all, I couldn't find a thread on this for 2010. Sorry if I missed one.

I'll be in town for a football game (GO BULLS!!!) and wanted to know what there is to do for NYE? I see that there is a first night and some of the bars in city center have events...anything else?

By the way we're all young (ish) social drinkers :O)

Thanks in advance!

I believe you have pretty much summed it up. I know in the past (a few years ago) the 1st night events have been a little rowdy but I think they have got it more under control now.

Every bar downtown will have something going on, so basically you could just about spit and hit a NYE party.

This blog has a decent compilation of NYE events:

FYI: First night Charlotte is a family-oriented, alcohol-free event. It draws a large crowd which is, over-all, fun and safe.

I would stay away from the Transportation Center area. And, stay where the crowds and police are. It's a fun event with lots of arts and cultural offerings.

Most of the uptown melees where the thugs have made news have centered around 4th of July celebrations.

Best wishes.

Probably the Founders Hall is the best for your age group.
