It's called the Land of Oz. Look at Emerald Mountain Realty website for details. It was open from 1970 to 1980 and sat abandoned for many years. It is now part of the Emerald Mountain housing development and they are slowly trying to restore it, but it's only a glimmer of what it used to be. It is private and you must be staying in the development to have access. However there are private tours through Emerald Mountain realty and they have a big Autumn at OZ weekend in October. Cindy Keller is the one to talk to at Emerald Mountain.

There are many other things to do at Beech Mountain.....golf, snow skiing, hiking, etc.. ----and in the surrounding area of Banner Elk, Linville, Boone, and Blowing Rock. It's a great place for kids.

We went to Autumn at Oz last year to cover it for RomanticAsheville travel guide. It's Oct 5-6 this year. Lots of fun. Here's a youtube video of it: http://youtu.be/8kw-nOdzt9A
