Pontevedra 3 nights

Hello travelers

Ill be staying in Pontevedra for 3 nights (may 14 to 17).

In from Porto - out to Santiago Compostella.

I plan to explore the town, visit the museum, basilica and Igrexa de SF.

Visit Combarro (1/2 day).

Any advice on things to do, maybe as a (half)day tour?

I use the public transport (no car)

Thanks

Santiago is a better location to use as a public transport hub. You can get to Cabo Fisterra and Lugo very easily.

Hello,

Pontevedra is a very beautiful city, if you like walking you can walk along the seafront and then along the riverside. The city is the most pedestrian-friendly in Galicia so it has a great atmosphere (a lot of restaurants, tapa bars, shops, etc).

Then you must visit the Ria of Pontevedra, there are lovely sceneries and villages. For a half-day tour you can take the bus to Portonovo-El Grove and visit the Toja Island. If you have enough time the beach of La Lanzada.

I hope this helps.

Regards.

I revised my plans and will visit between Porto & SDC (I have 3 nights - in May)

*Viana do Castello 1 or 2 nights

*Ourense 1 or 2 nights

in Ourense I'd like to see the Catedral, stroll around a little and go to the hot springs.

Also I read the train-ride to SDC is quite impressive, is that true?

Where would I stay 1 and where 2 nights is now my question.

I am now sinning against my own rule of "no one night hotels", it is fast travel and I don't like that much.

SDC = Santiago de Compostella

Maybe I should post this in Ourense Forum?

Casa San Estevo, you are unkind and agressive in your post. Everyone can have their opinion, you should realize that you are not the owner of this forum. For example, there are good and bad opinions about you and your service "Casa San Estevo" on Tripadvisor and you should respect the opinion of others. You have already posted several messages on this forum against Pontevedra city, I don't know the reason, it seems that's kind of an obsession.

Pontevedra city has been awarded in recent years as one of the better cities to live in Europe and it's well-known for its quality of life, so don't try to discredit it or other forum members.

People can check some articles in Spanish newspapers, for instance.

abc.es/local-galicia/20141201/abci-urbanismo…

They can also check the traveller's opinions on Tripadvisor:

So, if you can, be kind to the other members of the community, please, and respect their opinions. Thanks.

Have a nice day.

Regards.

***Casa San Estevo, you are unkind and agressive (sp) in your post. Everyone can have their opinion,***

That statement is ironic. You see I am only pointing out facts as I find them.

These are my opinions! I am known to be straight to the point no messing. That is the way I work.

Maybe a blogger, who lives in the town, can confirm just how the town works, beggars, closed shops, other "nasty " things to be found. etc etc. If you do not agree with him you can always post a response on his blog too.

You have not cared to note that the OP has stated his plans have changed. That is the point of posting on forums to give accurate and relevant advice.

Should I revert back to the Pontevedra itinerary?

No smelly factories?
