Travelling solo this coming July . Firstly can some one suggest a hotel in the region of €100/night right in the action ? I am not into full inclusives / Packages , maybe B&b only , so to base myself close to restaurants and eateries is a must . I like some bar hopping as well so thats a big bonus to be next door . I dont mind walking 15 minutes or so if streets are safe .

With regards to the beach/water quality , being an avid swimmer i enjoy long swims but obviously have no idea about currents there or if its possible ( danger from jetskis etc ) , I swim like 2k daily not just the snorkel type . If thats not inviting enough I can pay more for accomodation and go for a hotel with big pool .

Sorry if it took long guys ...many thanks

Take a look at Pereybere and Trou aux Biches areas which have restaurants and bars outside the hotels.

Pereybere beach is a good beach, very popular with locals and tourists alike. One of the best areas for swimming as the water is clear.

Pereybere is closest to Grand Baie but TAB is also well served by buses, but note they cease running in the evenings.

TAB is next door to Choisy beach which IMO is a better beach than TAB.
