Me and my wife are looking at going Mauritius this October for our 1st wedding anniversary. We are looking at the veranda Grand Baie. Does anyone know if there is the white sandy beaches that you would expect of Mauritius here? Or is there anywhere people can recommend? Thanks

1,121 helpful votes The beach at Vernada Grand Baie is very small and faces the bay not the ocean.
The plus for VGB is location and you can easily walk into Grand Baie centre and take advantage of all it has to offer.
If you want nice beaches though head west to Flic en Flac or east to Belle Mare.
Beaches are sandy but also have coral as Mauritius is a coral island.
Congratulations, we are always there for our Wedding Anniversary every October :-)
Ok brill thanks for the reply. I will look at those other places. We want somewhere that has the white sandy beach to relax on!!

94 helpful votes The beach at VGB is it's weak point - very small and on the bay, as Bronia has mentioned. In October you could look at Veranda Palmer Beach on the east coast which has a good beach or Veranda Paul & Virginie which is north east. Although the beach at P & V isn't huge it's nicer than at VGB and the setting is stunning. We stayed there two years ago and adored the hotel - it's since had a refurb so is even better now. We had lunch at VGB and VPB so had a good look around both hotels. Veranda is a good chain of affordable hotels so worth looking at all the options. P & V is adult only which is lovely for a romantic get away.
