jack o' lantern blaze- croton

Anyone know anything about the Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze at the VanCourtlandt Manon in Croton-on-the-Hudson?

I love detailed carved pumpkins, my husband likes to sit at home and eat pumpkin pie. I don't want to upset the dear boy unless it's an interesting event.

I went to the Blaze on Thursday night and while it is certainly something to see, I was disappointed that most of the intricately carved 'pumpkins' were in fact plastic!!!! It seemed only the ones nearest the public were real pumpkins, and these were quite poorly carved - in fact the one that I carved myself at home was much better.

Bear in mind this is a charity event though, and the little kids seemed to love it.

For me, the whole art and attraction of pumpkin carving is the fact that it is a snapshot of a moment in time, and that they will eventually rot - not just get thrown into some storage shed for next year.
