Plattsburgh or Burlington?

We are doing a 10 day New England tour and are looking for a final night's stay for the last leg of our journey back to Ottawa.

We are wondering for this one night (expected arrival of late afternoon) which side of Lake Champlain would provide for a best last night - Burlington or Plattsburgh. Looking at Holiday Inns since paying with points.

Have also posted in the Burlington forum.

Thanks for your help.

Sorry for the late reply. My pick would be Burlington, as there is much more to see/do there than Plattsburgh. There is a Holiday Inn right off Exit 14E.

No question Burlington is way better for tourists! its a hip awesome city with tons to see and do

Plattsburgh is basically a rest area and food stop between NYC and Montreal not nearly as much to see and do

There is no ferry from Plattsburgh to Bulington. It is Port Kent to Burlington.

From Montreal the long ferry at Kent is not worth it unless you actually just really want to take a ferry boat lol.. It's an hour and 15 min ferry at $30 each way for a car. By the time you drive from MTL to the ferry and take the ferry you could have already been in Burlington just by driving or with the small ferry.

If your driving down the 15 to border then turns into 87 you can take Exit 42 Rousses Point and drive over the bridge into Vermont.

If you really want to take a ferry, after the border just continue down the 87 towards Platts. and take exit 39 (plattsburgh beach).. couple miles down the road is the shorter ferry (30 min, 10$ each way)..

That ferry lets you off in Gran Isle, VT - and it's about a 25 min drive from there to Burlington.
