NYC to Niagara - best bus trip?

Hi,

My mum and I are going to do a 2 day bus trip from NYC to Niagara - can anyone recommend the best one to do? Or could we do this trip on our own? Any thoughts would be welcome!

Thanks

Considering that it is a 7-8 hour drive (and probably more on a bus) from NYC to Niagara Falls, you will spend most of those 2 days on a bus.

It is always recommended that people make their own arrangements, and that flying is the best option. It will cost more, but flights between NYC and Buffalo are just over an hour long, so, even allowing for another 3 hours of airport/shuttle time, it is still much better than sitting on a bus on a motorway for 16-20 hours. The Buffalo Airport is about 25 miles from the Falls, and you can get a taxi or shuttle to the U.S. side, or Greyhound or Megabus directly to the Canadian side.

Hi lozza11;

Why ?

• Just about every view YOU have seen of the Falls was taken from the Canadian side.

• Cleaner

• Much more to see and do.

You really want to go to the Canadian side. No reason to head all the way up there and not see the good side of the Falls. And definitely fly yourselves if at all possible.

Every comment about NYC to Niagara leans towards flying and I have read so many.

BUT I really would like to see the country.

I am currently leaning towards taking the train as that is also something I would like to experience even though I have read that there may be delays.

Is the country side we would be travelling through very scenic?

Are your trains clean inclusive of the toilets?

thanks in advance...:)

my friend and I are doing the train and it's about 8-9 hours and there's an early morning that gets you there by around noon.

It's a very pretty train ride on Amtrak up the Hudson for the first couple of hours of your trip. Sit on the left hand side leaving from Penn Station.

You really won't see any "countryside" on the bus.

Thanks for that info!

AudenHoggart...you say we shall not see any countryside.

What am I going to be seeing then?

Is the entire area built up from NYC to NF?

Well ... wondered which trip you guys took? - We are debating the same. Whether we should take the train or bus? - We would like to see some countryside or nice scenery at least. We are leaning towards the train, as the thought of 10hrs on a bus is depressing me! - At least on the train you can get up & walk around.

Much appreciated
