Pre cruise hotels

We are cruising out of Cape Liberty (Bayonne) NJ on May 8th and need a nice affordable hotel for the night before. Any suggestions?

I have no idea what is "affordable" for you.

There hotels near Newark Airport and there are hotels in Jersey City and Hoboken that can be sonsidered close by.

The reasonably priced Country Inn & Suites near Newark Airport offers a package that includes shuttle transportation to the cruise port in Bayonne

-- and their rates always include breakfast & free shuttle service to/from the airport monorail [a/k/a AirTrain] stop designated as P4, the stop closest to the Amtrak's EWR airport station:

The hotel's airport shuttle runs every 30 minutes from early in the AM to 11 PM at night; "on call" in the off hours. Or at least that was the schedule a couple of months ago.

If you're driving from Ohio, the Country Inn also offers a "park and fly" package whereby you can leave your car in their lot after your overnight stay. I imagine they'd be willing to combine that with the cruise shuttle package, or you could simply leave your car at one of the long-term parking facilities in or around Newark Airport.

Do call the Country Inn & Suites to confirm the particulars. If you'll need a place to eat dinner upon your arrival, there's a Ruby Tuesday next door to the Country Inn that would be a decent choice. The Jersey Gardens Mall is across the road; the food possibilities there are the usual mall eateries.

Also, if you're cruising with Royal Caribean, I believe you can book a hotel-cruise port shuttle package via RCL; the hotel they use is the Hilton next to Newark's Penn Station & airport shuttle service is included in its nightly rates.
