Cog Railway - 2:30 departure

Hey All,

We will be in New Hampshire from Oct 14 to 17 and planning to ride the cog up Mt. Washington.

As per cog railways website, there is a $15 discount for the train 2:30 run.

Does anyone knows what is the difference between 2:30 run vs the other trip during the day ?

Both of them seem to be 3 Hr roundtrip.

Thanks

Odds of unpleasant and even severe weather on the summit increase late in the afternoon. Be prepared.

That will be the bio-diesel train, they run 2 steam trains and Cog charges more for riding those. 45 minute ride up, 1 hour at the top and 1 hour ride down. There is also a $10 parking fee. You just hope for a good day.

RedRox knows all -- and New Hampshire is his home turf! He's only on loan to the great southwestern states! ;)

I just rode the cog last week. I inquired about the discount on the last train, and they claimed it was only due to it being the last train of the day, because I also wondered about the weather later in the day. I did not pay for parking, it was free at the base station. I chose an earlier train, but not due to weather, but time of day for our personal preference...Of course I was just there in summer, not Oct, so things can be different at that time of year, as others have mentioned weather.
