This is my first trip report, ive decided to do it but categories of what we did rather than day by day as it ended up being a fairly relaxing holiday (ish) and i dont want to bore you!!!
A few hiccups with the airport but an amazing holiday altogether and i cant wait to return!!!
Setting off and Airport - LGW:
Booked a limo as a secret to take us to the aiport at 630am. Needed to check in a 830 so seemed like plenty of time. I was SO wrong. My partner was delighted with the limo surprise and we set off happy and excited. As we approached the M25 more and more traffic started to build up. The limo driver decided to take the scenic route assuring us that it would be quicker. It was a lovely scenic route...however lots of time started to pass and our relaxed excitement started to turn in to stress and worry that we wouldnt be there on time. M (dh) started to get agitated and me being the one responsible for the limo tried to keep it all light hearted but we ended up stressed at eachother..Not the way i wanted to start our honeymoon. 3 HOURS LATER we arrived (what should have been a 90ish minute journey) we rushed to the gate and were just in time for check in.....then we were told there were no seats left togther! I explained that our booking form stated the seats we were allocated and they were together. They then told me that these were just guides and not guaranteed?? I was baffled as to why the airline/travel agent doesnt make this clearer as i would have happily paid to book guaranteed seats together. (I will be talking to Thoms cook about this) Anyway, determined not to ruin the day we stayed cool and just accepted our fate. We had not time for a proper breakfast before the flight so grabbed a quick sandwich and magazines and headed to the date.
Flight (VIRGIN) was just OK. Sitting alone, food not great, running out of alcohol and fizzy drinks half way through the flight...? Still trying absolute hardest to make light of it all.
Arrived at Vegas on time, no delays but long queue to get through customs.
Monte Carlo. I was slightly apprehensive having read the reviews...however..I was very pleased. Lovely polite check in, no mention of an upgrade, we had only booked a deluxe but ended up on a high floor with views over the mountains, city center resort and glimpses of the others. The COMFIEST bed we have ever slept in. the casino was lovely and not too big, we did a bit of gambling mostly the machines and roulette. Theres a little bar called the Ignite lounge which does the most delicous apple martini...i had many. Be prepared to pay at least $20 a round for 2 drinks at the hotel bars.
Pool area was lovely. A quiet pool, a large hot tub, a lazy river and a wave pool. During the week it was really enjoyable. At the weekend, it gets a very young and loud croud with DJ's playing music etc. Great if you like that sort of thing, not for us though. We didnt mind though as we made the most of the pool at the start of our holiday. The whole of Vegas gets packed at the weekend, particularly with the younger crowd. We are fairly young but quite laid back so hectic parties arent really our thing.
As the week went on you do start to noticed a scuff mark here and there in the room but seriously...it didnt bother us one bit!
For those who havent been to America before..the portions are massive ! but oh well you are on holiday!
we had the nicest burger EVER in the cheesecake factory...my god we both thought it was the nicest thing we had ever eaten. I had a BBQ burger and M had a Mac N Cheese burger.
We also ate at PH restaurant, Hard Rock cafe, Italian restaurant in NYNY. All yummy.
One thing i will say about the MC in that the buffet wasnt amazing..it was just ok. We ate at the bellagio buffet for breakfast one time and once at the Mirage buffet. Both yummy. I love American food!
On the last night, we ate a Diablos Cantina. The only place where the service we received wasnt great. But, amazing Nachos and i cant remember what we had for main course but it was nice.
Blue Man group. Now, I dont really know what to say about this show. Me and my partner were rather merry....a few too many apple martinis.... It was random, funny, not what i expected. Good but a bit odd? Anyway we enjoyed ourselves.
A merry gondola ride too...entertaining the other riders and the gondolier....Well we thought we were funny anyways. They probaby thought..what is wrong with these drunk english people!
We did the CSI experience, this was fun too and you get pictures at the end wearing the CSI vests, good if you or your family like CSI.
We did lots of shopping which was great loads of shops to choose from. If you go to a outlet mall....Go to the North Premium outlets, way better than the south.
Think thats it, flight home uneventful although we were sitting together..Yay!
Amazing, relaxing (sort of) holiday. I had blisters on my feet from the walking and we spent lots of cash but it was great.
Any Questions just ask
