Flamingo Opinions Please

Hello Everyone, We will be visiting Vegas for the second time next year only for a three day stopover en route to Hawaii (hooray!!) Last time we stayed at the Bellagio and found it a little bit too snooty and not really our sort of place. We are a very easy going couple who enjoy live music and food and some drinks on our travels. We have looked at a few different places but the favourite at the moment is The Flamingo based on reviews and price we can get a 3 night stay in a Go room for $140 or the Go Deluxe for $185 which we think is very good. Just after some opinions from recent visitors as to what the Flamingo is like. Any info gratefully received.

Flamingo isn't snooty, that's for sure. I think you'll like it there.

We have stayed at Flamingo twice, last time in a FAB luxury room. Best choice we had ever made. Top floor, view straight across to Ceasars Palace. Renovated room. Best of of all, on a comp. Casino is much more laid back than Bellagio, which by the way we love, but would never stay there, just that little bit 'posh' for us

Just came back from the Flamingo but have not stayed in the GO rooms but have heard they are very nice. I like the Flamingo because it's bright and lively, not at all snooty. The hotel is obviously not going to be as nice as the Bellagio but it's not a dive as some other posters will try to tell you. The common areas such as the carpeting in the hallways and the elevators are in need of an upgrade. The main concern is that the Flamingo is not a place to stay for people looking for good food choices. The buffet is so-so (better at breakfast) and the other food choices are pretty run of the mill. We really enjoy Margaritaville, but the food, though reasonable, is nothing fantastic; more like Chilis, Applebees, etc. However the Flamingo has great strip access and a great location so it's easy to sample the food at other casinos.

I'm no Vegas "expert" (I don't have several thousand posts, but I do have a travel life). That being said, I definitely recommend the Flamingo. I stayed there for Super Bowl 2011. I had a Go Deluxe Room (comped). I loved it!

(That weekend I lost $8,000 & ended up with the Flu. Couldn't leave the room from Monday-Friday). Just glad I had a nice room to be sick in (and the Packers won that Super Bowl).

I like the Flamingo and we have stayed there for our last few trips. We prefer the Go Rooms, but I will probably stay on the cheap in a Fab room on my February trip. It's not smelly....LOL!! They pipe in a tropical fragrence. Some of the hallway carpets are looking very tired, but really....who cares?

The center strip location is my favorite part of the property. It is super easy to get anywhere from Flamingo. They have always treated me well.

I have a love hate relationship with Flamingo. I stayed there twice. First time, Oct 2010, was in the GO Lux w/view and I had a great time.

Second time, April 2011, I reserved a Go Room with a great price, but had to pre-pay all three days. Upon check-in, I was told that they oversold and downgraded me to a Deluxe Room which was in poor condition and had a bed that was so bad I slept on the little love seat in the room. It was really a bad stay. What was most upsetting is that they knew of the problem at least one day before and made no effort to let me know. Rather they waited until I checked in and then told me when I had no resources to find another room.

Still, I really want to like the place. I found another great deal on a GO Lux w/view and will be staying there Oct 10, 11 and 12 for $260 plus fees and taxes. We'll see how this visit goes. They have a cheap food court for emergencies, but as mentioned above, there are a lot of better places to eat other than the Flamingo.

And, yes, while the common areas need remodeling the GO Room I had was perfect in that there we no stains on the carpeting, no scratches in the furniture, everything worked and it was clean. The Deluxe was just horrible, lampshades ripped & in taters, Stains on carpet and furniture, furniture missing pieces of wood, and a bed from hell. Thus, a love/hate relationship.

I always find the Casino to be fun and can always find a 3:2 BJ Table, the slots are OK, and roulette is always available.

I stayed in a Go room with a view last year and loved it. The hotel is a bit worn, but that's about it for negatives. Good room, good people, good casino, great price, great location. It's a must.
