Las Vegas in the summer?

Hi, We've been to Vegas quite often, but in the winter. We're planning to go in June to celebrate a birthday and just wondering if you could tell me some differences ( other than the weather) and any advice for what to bring or what to expect? Thank you.

Other than the weather, the biggest difference is more families are in town with school out. Pools are busy, other than that nothing much is different from one season to the other.

As far as what to bring? I have no idea what you should bring, clothes you would wear in the summer? Money? Sun screen?

I have gone plenty of times in July and August as well as December and January. It can be real hot in the summer. However, humidity is much less than you would be used to. 105 with zero humidity feels better than returning back to the midwest with 90 and 90% humidity.

Bring comfy shoes. I prefer shorts with some good pockets that I can keep a small water bottle in. Stay hydrated as there are not many drinking fountains in Vegas. Bring/buy sunblock.

Get out early in the AM before it gets too hot if you are going to check out different places. It will seem pretty deserted in the morning. After dark, there will be people everywhere.

I actually prefer it in the summer as opposed to in the winter.

I can not stress the importance of sunscreen!! Last June was my 3rd summer trip I prefer spring, first trip we spent time by the pool and omg the sun is no joke! I am biracial and never thought I would burn like that! Learn from me lol!

Summer means lots of kids clogging up the pools. It's can get pretty hot, but the casinos keep the temps set to arctic inside.

We try to go after the second week in August. There don't seem to be as many kids. And I don't hate kids, I just want peace and quiet at a pool, not Marco Polo.

We were there in June 2009 and slapped sun screen on every day. We went back in June 2010 and didn't put any on at all, we just timed it so that we were outside as little as possible through the day. If we had to go out we went from A to B as quickly as possible and we had no problems at all. We made sure we weren't out in the sun for more than 10 minutes at a time.

And we didn't honk of sun screen all day!

And it was hot, hot, hot. Daily highs were between 95 and 109 for our trip.

Drink lots of water.. Chapstick.. Sunscreen.. Sunglasses.. the usual. More outside bars open I think.. Like beer stands an such. Love Vegas in any weather but summer is the best! Have fun!
