Lady Luck signage removed

Saw this on FB

Looks like they are starting the changes already, this is going to be a big year for downtown, with the LL being totally redone and a new property with the Fitz being bought and going to have a new name, the Plaza is reopened and looking MUCH better, the Zipline is being extended and going to be a permanent change. Heck even the ol El Cortez had a paint job. Downtown sure is getting polished til it shines!

Thats great as I love that area. It doesn't try to compete with the strip because it can't. Its like they have realised what the hsitorical worth of downtown is and are embracing that. Great deals and party atmosphere to be had downtown.

I stayed at LL right before it closed, what a dump. It was a short notice trip during New Years so I was limited in my options. I hope they do something nice with the joint. Is this where The Cooler was made? My wife and I were wondering when we watched it the other day.

Black, I looked it up and it wasn't the filming location for The Cooler. That was filmed at the Landmark Hotel (Convention Center/Paradise Rd), according to IMDB. There is some trivia out there saying that the back alley scenes in the movie were filmed in Fulton Alley behind the Nugget but that trivia also says the whole thing was filmed in Reno.

Another sign for the boneyard. Things are on the move for downtown. Things are only getting better. I love the place.

I bet the Travel Channel is still showing the episode that features the Lady Luck as one of the Top Ten bargains in Vegas!

I didn't know that about extending the zipline, makes sense. It is so popular. I think they blew it by not bringing the Star Trek experience to Neonopolis.

Long live Downtown!

I visited the LL in their last year of operation. An extreme dump. They had that little food stand in the casino and the stench was overwhelming. Hope the first thing they do is stop cooking hotdogs on the casino floor.

I am glad they are keeping up the downtown area-we love it down there. we usually stay our frist night and the second on the strip and then head downtown for at least 2 nights. Glad tp see it is not trying to keep up with the strip but also is keeping up with the times and remodeling is always good.

I only got to visit LL once on my first trip but looking forward to the renovations but it's kind of sad that they are changing the name, same goes with the Fitz.
