I would recommend grand tower.

The west wing rooms are small and have a very odd bathroom with not a lot of privacy, the room itself is fairly modern.

The Grand Tower rooms are larger with a normal type of bathroom, some of these rooms have strip views others dont.

At check in just ask for Strip view.

When I stayed there last year, we were "upgraded" to a West Wing room from Grand Tower. It was actually great, because the West Wing has its own entrance/exit, so we could leave MGM without a loooong trek through the casino. The room was very modern, elegant, but indeed small. The bathroom was almost too modern.

We didn't spend much time in the room, so the size was fine. A view would have been nice, but the easy in-out and the proximity of a Starbucks (I need my morning coffee!) made it just fine. I wouldn't have paid more for it, but as a free upgrade, I liked it.

Many dont consider the West wing an up-grade over the tower rooms, I think MGM likes to present that they are seeing the West wing room are about 100sq feet smaller then the tower rooms, Plus West wing rooms have open bathroom and no doors or tubs.

People either seem to love or hate the West Wing rooms. Understanding that they are small and have tiny windows, they are very modern and closer to the Strip. Personally I prefer the Grand Tower rooms; while I can understand why someone might prefer the WW room, I can't justify MGM charging more for what is essentially a renovated motel room from the old Marina Hotel.

The Grand Tower is the way to go very comfy and more.

For what it's worth, I only stayed grand tower room and loved it. We did go to the West Wing bar twice and used their entrance/exit several times(very convenient), but there was a hallway on bottom floor of west wing that seemed cold-dark-damp-quiet.(IMO) My wife started to speed walk through this area. West Wing location to the strip is better, but...I would still choose Grand Tower room.

I've stayed in both, and to me the biggest differences are:

--The frosted glass doors on the shower and toilet stalls; there's no separate bathroom with a door

--Size; the WW rooms are smaller.

--Decor; the WW rooms are a more modern decor, the Grand Tower more traditional hotel room decor.

--Location; the WW elevator is closer to the Strip, but farther from the pool.

I was happy in the WW when traveling solo, but appreciated the extra room and privacy when traveling with my wife.

Grand Tower

If feeling the need to upgrade go for a Bungalow suite and bypass west wing.

Go for the Celebrity Spa Suite. More than enough room for 2 in the spa tub. Huge room.

We had a great view with a huge window in the bedroom, looking at Mandalay, Luxor, etc. Living room looked over NYNY and we could see the folks on the roller coaster.
