5-Star Hotels on Hotwire?

Do you guys know what Hotwire considers as a 5-star hotel? I am trying to book a trip for my parents in early March, and they have the dates I need for $125/night for a 5-Star on Central Strip. The only ones I would think of in that area are Bellagio, Wynn, and Venetian. If I can get my parents at any of those three for that price, I would be extremely pleased. Very skeptical though about what Hotwire would consider as a 5-Star hotel. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

From what people are saying there are currently three 5 star options that Hotwire is offering. These are Wynn, Venetian and Trump International. The one that you'll probably want to avoid is Trump but that's easily done as the property doesn't show that it has a casino. If the casino icon is present in the hotel's amenities listing you can assume it will be Wynn or Venetian. The number of TripAdvisor reviews that Hotwire states have been used to calculate a hotel's rating are a big clue also. Wynn and Venetian have around 1500 reviews each, Trump far fewer.

Many people are reporting getting Wynn with Hotwire bookings right now. It seems that that particular hotel is doing whatever it takes to get guests through its doors!

Star ratings can vary depending on the booking site.

AAA rates the Bellagio with 5 diamonds. I have found that one booking site may give a hotel 5 stars and the same hotel will have 4 stars on another site. This can depend on customer reviews for that particular site. In my opinion...the Wynn, Encore and Palazzo are the only 5 star hotels on the strip. That's just my opinion. According to our experience at a "5 star" hotel last summer, it really deserved 3 stars.

The best thing is to read how Hotwire determines their star rating. That information should be available on their site. Here's a link about star ratings...http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26840118/

Check out BetterBidding (http://www.betterbidding.com), a set of forums designed to help take the mystery out of Priceline and Hotwire. Given the list of amenities presented by Hotwire, you should be able to pin down which hotel is being offered (most likely the Wynn or Venetian).

I just booked a two night stay for mid January and chose the 5 star rating @ $132 per night. Ended up getting the Wynn!

I think Hotwire's rating for the Bellagio is 4.5 stars.

Thanks alot guys! This is all great information. I would actually rather put my parents at the Bellagio, b/c of location. If I decide on a 4.5 star on Hotwire, what would my chances be of landing the Bellagio? Thanks again everyone.

on many properties Hotewire gives the number of reviews on tripadvisor, you can cross check and fugure out exactly what you are getting

for example the Wynn is

Traveler rating

4.0 out of 5 Based on 1460+ customer reviews (Last reviewed December 2008)

Highly unlikely you will get Bellagio if you go for 4.5 stars....I wouldn't gamble like that. Either go for the 5 star or find a different way to book Bellagio.

longboard, can you explain that again to me? Where would I find the Wynn's TripAdvisor rating on Hotwire or any hotel for that matter? I am looking everywhere, but I don't even know where to look at the list of possible hotels.
