Where would you stay next weekend- Oct1 -2?

We are flying into Idaho Falls Thursday and out on Sunday. We would get to West Yellowstone late Thurs night. Need advice as to whether just stay there Fri-Sat or spend one night in the Park. The only available lodging is Old Faithful Inn at $215 or Old Faithful Snow Lodge at $197 or Lake Lodge at $166 for Friday night. Just 2 of us, no kids. Is West Yellowstone to much of a drive for day tripping?

West YS is close to the park and adds about 1/2 hour to any driving to places inside the park. If you can afford a night inside the park, consider Lake Lodge for Friday night. You can see the geyser basins near Old Faithful most of the day, then drive to the Lake Lodge by afternoon. We loved the lake! The next day, you can easily drive to Canyon via Hayden Valley and then back to West YS for the night.

I think you'll enjoy having at least one night in the park. Both Lake and Old Faithful are historic lodges; Snow Lodge is not.
