Hotel in fun area of town

Hey,

Some buddies and I are gunna be in KC in late Aug for a Royals game, but all the hotels near Kauffman are booked up. We need to know what a good area to set up camp would be.

We like bars, are in our late 20s, like live rock/punk/metal, and have a decent budget. Any suggestions as to what neighborhood we should stay in? Distance to the stadium is no concern, we have a van and a sober buddy to drive us.

The bars and clubs you are looking for are probably in the Westport Area. The hotels are in the Country Club Plaza area nearby. There is an embassy suites that is within stumbling distance of both Westport and the Plaza.

First off I am not sure when you will be here exactly but our alternative newspaper gives some of the punk/rock shows happening

Stay anywhere downtown like the aladdin- holiday inn is real swank, contemporary.

The Q in Westport for a hotel might work- there is also Power and light district which is worth a look

Power & Light Downtown or Westport are your best bets....you can usually priceline a room in the Crown Center neighborhood of downtown fairly cheap (hyatt and westin) and it's a quick cab or easy walk to the P&L or a bit longer cab to westport.

IMO, P&L is where most people are going now...westport is a fun neighborhood though.
