Daytrip from NOLA-Please help!!

We wanted to take a daytrip to coastal AL & MS from NOLA just to see a glimpse of those 2 states and say we were there since we are from NJ.

What is there to see in Biloxi or areas around it? We are interested in deep South history, southern restaurants or nature places. Not interested in shopping or casinos.

Thanks so much!!!!!!!

It would not be possible to go to all of those places, but there are some great suggestions there. Definitely get off the interstate and drive down highway 90 along the beach between Bay St Louis and Biloxi, and cross over the new bridge (Katrina took the old one) into Ocean Springs.

I also second the recs for the Blow Fly Inn in Gulfport, and the Shed in Ocean Springs. Not just for the food but the location and setting, southern culture and all that good stuff.
