Staying in Arden Hills & Shoreline area for a conference

We are staying in mid-November for a 2 day conference with the three days to fill up with things to do. We are doing a car rental and will fly into MSP-Intl. I would assume to pack winter attire. We will be leaving by Nov 20th. We are two senior gals and hope we can muster the traffic from the airport to this area as we are staying ina hotel in the New Brighton. We can use any helpful info for this short break. thank you.

When do you land & rent car?

If you are avoiding the morning / afterwork rush hours, you should be fine. GoogleMaps shows you could go thru Minneapolis or St. Paul to get to New Brighton. It may be easier to take the St Paul route. [HiWay 5, to 35E, to 694] - depending on actual hotel address.

We got some snow last weekend, but didn't stay. It might hit 60F on Thursday. Usually any heavy snow isn't til sometime after ThxGiving or even X-Mas. But pack layers.

Enjoy Minnesota !!

Arden Hills, Shoreview & New Brighton are northern suburbs equally distant from the downtowns of both St Paul & Minneapolis.

What sorts of things interest you? For shopping there's the Mall of America - which is very close to the airport, so if your flight time allows, you may want to shop there just after you arrive or just before you leave. Otherwise, you will be very close to the Rosedale shopping mall. Note that there is so sales tax on clothing in Minnesota.

We have a number of museums & theaters. For the Arts we have the MIA, the Sculpture Garden (weather permitting), the Weisman, the Walker & more. For History there's the MN History Center & Mill City Museum. The Science Museum is in St Paul.

You could catch the Book of Mormon at the Orpheum Theatre, A Christmas Carol at the Guthrie, or an Agatha Christie Murder at Theater in the Round.

If you like architecture, you may want to tour the State Capital, the Cathedral of St Paul & the James J Hill House, all in St Paul. In Minneapolis you could go to the top of the Foshay Tower or visit the endless bridge in the Guthrie, then walk across the Stone Arch Bridge (weather permitting).

There are a number of craft breweries or distilleries if you'd like a tour.

Next door in Fridley, there is a Supper Club Lounge called Crooners with amazing concerts, shows, singers, & performers.

If there is anything on their events calendar, nab some will-call tix before you fly in and check the place out. We caught the Patsy Cline tribute twice, it was that good.

Hi,

I actually live about 10 min from that area...depends on what you want to do, but when in Arden Hills, if you just take Hwy 96 East (not a real highway, more like a road) you will end up in White Bear Lake which is a really cute town with a nice walk-able downtown with little shops, and places to eat and it is very close to Pine Tree Apple Orchard, which is fun to spend a couple hours at too.

I think the Sears are all going out. JcPenneys is at Rosedale Mall just south of where you are staying. Ross for Less isn’t a MN thing. I’d never heard of it until the Maui forums LOL. There are other discount places such as Marshall’s
