Snowtubing and Snowmobiling

Hi,

We arrive on the 8th of January 2019 from Australia (from the heat of our summer to your winter and we can't wait!). Are there any recommendations for snowtubing and snowmobiling worth going to close to the city? We will be relying on Uber or public transport as we aren't comfortable driving in your winter in case of bad weather.

Thanks!

You can go snow tubing at Elm Creek Park in Maple Grove (a suburb of Minneapolis). Attached is a link to the Three Rivers Park website. There are other winter activities at this park so I have also attached a link to their entire winter recreation web page.

Here are a few snow tubing spots:

As for snowmobiling, there aren’t a lot of options for rentals in the Twin Cities. Most places that rent sleds are resorts in northern Minnesota. There is one place in Shakopee, but it’s not easily accessible by public transport. Here’s an article that provides good info for first-timers (and the names of some rental places):

Buck hill for tubing for sure. It’s close to town and the moving belt to get ya back to the top is awesome.
