National Cherry Festival

Hi, planning a trip to Michigan - the UP and Wisconsin. Visiting Lansing to see the State Capital and then on to Traverse City for the Cherry Festival. Any places to stay that we can walk to festivities? Or is it best to stay near the beaches and driving? Staying 2 days before heading up North. Thanks for any help!

Cherry Festival this year as in the next 2 weeks? Hotels might already be booked if you haven't made a reservation. If the festival is important to you then my suggestion is to stay near downtown

Yes, I'm late making plans. I was reading posts and it says that the cherries are shipping in from Washington. Is that correct?

Hotels in walking distance would be Indigo, Holiday Inn, Bayshore and the Park Place.

Probably all full but you can try to get a room.

Thanks! They all have rooms available, however, way too much for me. ha. Can you suggest any hotels maybe within 1/2 drive or something on the water?

Anything on the water will be pricey.

There is a Knights Inn and a Howard Johnson not too far from the main Cherry Festival goings on.

Try Airbnb.

Don’t stay too far out as that just means sitting in traffic to do stuff.

Hello, you can check out our website for more information about the area and hotels, as well as information about the Cherry Fest! www.traversecity.com

There are plenty of places in the Traverse City area that should have some availability, especially within the 30-minute drive you mentioned. Hope this helps!

We attended the festival on the last day to see Darci Lyn. The line to get into the show was past the volleyball court .something needs to be done to prevent this situation. The general admission seats and reserved seating were in the same line. This needs to be addressed and a solution for shorter lines put in place. On top of the crowd many people had lawn chairs and dragged them in the line.and made it even longer to get in.
