Horse Farm near Lexington or Bourbon Trail

We are planning a weekend in Lexington area this month and would like to include a horse farm in our activities. I realize we will need to make an appointment...but wondering if any of you experts can way in an opinion. We are focusing mostly on the Bourbon Trail but would like to tour a farm. Do you think the Thoroughbred Center would give novices good incite and be interesting? Is there any other farm that would be better or you could recommend? We plan on going towards Versailles and down to Bardstown. Appreciate any local input.

The Thoroughbred Center is a good place for novices as it is a working Thoroughbred training facility. Mid-February begins breeding season, so you need to make your reservations now! I would suggest touring Three Chimneys Farm since it is almost a straight drive from Lexington to Woodford Reserve, but they do not allow tours in January and February. Check into: Ashford Stud (859-873-7088) and Winstar Farm (859) 873-1717,
