Choice of hotel for 2 60 something couples

I keep waffling on hotels for this upcoming weekend- Kinzie, Loews, and Staypineapple- all three locations have rooms available. I have reservations at Staypineapple right now. Our list of touristy things to do includes Rover Cruise, Second City or Comedy Sportz, Tommy Guns, one of the towers, a tigers/white sox game and some blues music. Do all three have easy access to good restaurants ( we are not foodies, just like good food)? The hotel prices are comparable. Advice please? Public transportation- leaving car at home.

Second City and Tommy Gun's will require a car ride from all of your candidate hotels. The Sox game is easily reached by the Red Line, a subway beneath State Street. Stay Pineapple is certainly the most convenient location for that.

To me, the Loew's location is the least appealing if you are walking to most places (the exception is Navy Pier). It is less accessible to downtown than the others; while it looks close by on a map, it is somewhat cut off by Columbus Drive and dealing with that isn't convenient. If you are taking cabs or Ubers, though, Columbus can be a quick way to get around. Of course, Loew's is, by far, the newest property and would have the best views and the most amenities, including a pool and large workout room. It's something to discuss with your companions.

The Kinzie is right in the heart of a popular bar and restaurant district. It is an upscale area, crowded with well-dressed young people on Friday and Saturday nights. The hotel has a wine hour and continental breakfast included, which is nice when traveling in a group.

StayPineapple is right in the center of downtown, busy and noisy on weekdays but much less so at night and on weekends. It's a beautiful restoration and you can't get more "big city" than its location.

The locations are very different even though they're in walking distance of each other. The Staypinapple (what a dumb name) née The Burnham, is in the Loop. It's handy to the Theatre District and the Red line/State Street subway to get you to Sox Park. However, after business hours, the Loop, which is mostly Government and Business, closes down early.

Loew's is in Streeterville, It's a newer property and in a residential high-rise area. There's nota lot of tourist activity in the area and you will have to rely on taxis and Uber a lot.

The Kinzie is also a newer hotel in River North (aka Tourist Central) You have many more choices of food and nightlife in that area. (Frontera, Imperial Laiman, Bub City, Hub 51, Ema, Roka Akor, Ruth's Chris, Havana and, of course the chains like, Lyfe Kitchen, Einstein Bros McDonalds, ...) The Red Line subway is a couple of blocks away at Sate and Grand Ave.

I would opt for the Kinzie simply because of it's location, location , location.

The StayPinaeapple is not all that poorly located. it's in the northeast quadrant of the Loop, which is the most vibrant part of the Loop from a tourist perspective. That part of of the Loop is sometimes referred to as the "Theater District" because of the number of theaters -- the CIBC theater (where Hamilton is playing) is a few blocks to the south; the Goodman & Chicago Theaters are a couple of blocks to the north, There are a number of other hotels and restaurants in that part of the Loop, so it's not "dead" after office hours.. The StayPineapple is also within a few blocks of Millennium Park (site of the "Bean" sculpture). It's a short walk north to the Chicago River and the River North/ Magnificient Mile neighborhoods to the north of the River.
