Overnight stay on way to Jacksonville Airport

Hello,

I am looking to piggy back a long weekend after a business trip to Jacksonville. This would be in late March. DH will be with me and we are driving up to stay in Savannah Friday and Saturday nights. On Sunday, we originally planned to do a day trip to Tybee for some beach time. (Yes, I know the water might be cold, but just looking to sit on the sand for a little while.) However, I started looking around the forums and found St.Simons Island as an interesting alternative to actually stay over Sunday into Monday. Our flight leaves Jacksonville late afternoon. We just want to sit on the beach for a couple of hours and then explore the town, quaint shops, beachside restaurants for a sunset drink. We are not golfers. Not sure if this fits the bill, so looking for opinions here if this makes sense and has what we are looking for.

I was looking at the Hilton properties in SSI as they are within budget. They are not on the beach but the island seems small enough for it to be ok. Hopefully, parking in town or at the beach is not an issue.

Go for it! You can be on the beach in 10 minutes from anywhere on the island. Have dinner at Nazarro's.

Good suggestions. If you want southern style food and seafood look at Barbara Jeans which is in the village area. You can walk out to the pier, see the lighthouse etc.

We have stayed at the Hampton inn at least 50 times.

Look at the King and Prince Resort, if you want to be on the Beach.

Recognize that the beachside locations are great for sunrises, but not so much for sunsets. Second vote for Southern Soul if you like BBQ. Great people watching grub spot is the upper porch at Brogan's in the Village overlooking the water and pier.

I would say spring for the King and Prince, it's right on the beach but I'm not sure how much out of budget it would be. You shouldn't have any problems parking anywhere.
