We are coming back 8) in mid December and are looking for some new restaurants to try.

Can you please tell us your top choices and why they are your favorites?

We like Doc Fords and the Crows Nest. RC Otters for breakfast. Sandwiches from Captiva Provisioins, they are expensive, but very good!

We love Traditions on the Beach at the Island Inn. It's the owners from Dolce Vita. Food is always great. Love the bar & specialty drinks. Live music on different nights. Great staff. Our other favorite is Traders. Love the fresh food, the bar, and the live Island music. We visit both every year. Blue Coyote is fun , too. You can take a golf cart ride prior to dinner for the Eco-tour. Very good food and service too. Enjoy!

All those sound fine, but aren't they on Sanibel? the OP asked about Captiva?

I'm the OP-it's OK. We don't mind driving to Sanibel.

Choices are kind of limited on Captiva.

We always go to Doc Fords, Captiva Cantina and Crows Nest ( since we stay at Tween Waters ).

Mucky Duck for drinks at sunset.

Just looking for somewhere new/different.

You don't have to drive far for some variety. THE Lazy Flamingo is Captiva Cantina like, withe cold beer and seafood. The Sunset Grill is nice casual dining (a step below Old Captiva House). And for something very special, The Mad Hatter. These are all just over the bridge in Santiva.

Green Flash is my favorite, but it wasn't mentioned. Maybe I'm the only one who likes it.

Thanks everyone!

Do you need to get "dressed up" for Mad Hatter?

I do. That is to say I wear pants not shorts, topsiders not flip flops. It is the nicest restaurant on both islands so a little dressing up is appropriate.
