Which place would you stay?

Hello. The home we've rented in the past is booked the week we are considering coming back to Captiva. I would like some opinions or experiences with some options I'm considering. This would be for a family vacation. Two parents, one 10 year old, and one grandmother.

1. Cakewalk house

2. Caspian house

3. A house in Sunset Captiva

4. Privately owned two bedroom condo at South Seas with access to 2 pools, but none of the resort amenities.

5. Cupcake house

6. Two bedroom Condo at Ocean's Reach in Sanibel

7. Two bedroom condo at Sanibel Moorings condos in Sanibel

8. Two bedroom in condo at Sanibel Arms West

We stayed at the Lollipop house for our last trip. We did enjoy having the private enclosed pool. But, don't mind not having private pool as long as we have access to a heated community pool.

I can help you with choice #4. Without amenities you want to stay on the south end of South Seas. This puts you close to Captiva Village amenities. This means Bayside Villas, Tennis Villas, or the Beach Villas. Bayside Villas are farthest from the beach and have the nicest pool complex. Only benefit of Tennis Villas is price. Beach Villas are the only South Seas units that are beachfront. Note bldgs. 2000 and 2100 have no elevator. ( Don't know health of grandmas knees.)

Use your savings the rent a golf cart to get around.

Have you stayed on Sanibel before? We have stayed on both islands several times with our children when they were small and now our grandchildren!

In our opinion, Sanibel has better dining choices and we love bike riding on Sanibel but Captiva is such a unique area we have made it our home base. If you can, staying on the bayside is terrific!

We too have stayed in the Lollipop house and are looking at going back this late spring.

Of the choices you gave I would absolutely choose either Caspian or Cupcake. We have stayed on South Seas, but felt separated from the village. We also have stayed on closer to the Green Flash, and did not feel like the village was walkable.

We will definitely be staying in the area of Laika Lane or Wrightman Lane on our next trip.
