If we wanted to walk to Duval and be near everything what would be a good choice for lodging?
parking available at Pier House?
Parking for a fee. Do you want resort? b&b? Small hotel or inn.? So many places and Duval is approx 12 blocks north to south. Where do you want to be? Lower Duval = loud and rowdy, the bight has great happy hours and gets quieter late night, upper Duval has great restaurants and art gallery’s. Try narrowing down your desires. Everyone has their favorite but that may not be your scene. Do your research first and we can narrow down your best options.
What's your budget per night ? There's all kinds of different options from maybe $250 up to probably $700 or more.
Time of year will make some difference to prices, particularly if your trip takes in a holiday or special event.
There's a $35.00 / day fee at the Pier House which covers parking and a bunch of stuff you'd expect to get anyway at an upscale hotel. It's at 1 Duval which is a great location, has nice, garden-like grounds, and a small beach. You can also check the Ocean Key resort next door. They have a parking fee, too.
All depends on budget and what you want near. I would not be more than 1 block off Duval. We do have a free loop bus that can help if you don't want to walk the mile long street. We found the perfect place for us at the Curry Mansion. No it is not a 5 hotel but is a 5 star BNB . It is a 150 year old home complete with a widow walk and even allows tours of main house. Being I am into old homes this is perfect. When looking at price understand what all is included. Free fantastic breakfast, free parking, 2 hour happy hour with open bar and no hidden resort charges. Only .about 200 feet off Duval and near most everything within 4 blocks. Do think about renting a bike. If no budget then I would select Pier house but will add to the walking.
As stated , Price and preferences will dictate where you may want to stay . Personally , we go a little lower on the lodging because we are usually wandering about town . Makes no sense to spend a fortune on a room you don't use . Others have different opinions . Your desire for location over price or peaceful setting may also come into play . A few blocks off Duval is plenty close for us . Surprising how much the prices drop in a few hundred yards . All about what you're looking for . It's all there , just need to look . Also book early , the best rooms and rates go fast .
Would not say prices but to get a top end room yes must make selection early. What we are after is safety.did stay once at the Knowles 's house once and 5 blocks is far too much to feel safe and is on .Eaton street very noisy.Great place but not worth it to us. Did allow nudity at Fantasy Fest and yes we are nudist's. The trick to KW is what you really need and will use. Yes the lower price places usually land you in less than perfect rooms and location. Yes because of how often we are in KW yes have a budget.
Our offer on a place in KW has been accepted and will soon close on deal. Lawyer's are checking details on usage. When we close will change our location back to KW as it seemed to upset a few..
