We seldom get red tide here - the last time I remember it being bad was 10 years ago.

We were at our condo at the end of October 2015, and there was a red tide then. Nothing like they are experiencing in the Sarasota area. We talked to lots of people who told us before 2015 there had been one 15 years earlier. Not common in the Panhandle. It was after the remnants of a tropical storm had gone through.

It doesn't necessarily "travel" from one place to another. Sometimes weather and environmental factors cause it to bloom in multiple places.

Here is the current red tide status from FWC:

Right now, I have not heard of anybody suffering from any effects of Red Tide.... That could change, but nothing now!
