Many nice beaches. From Clearwater going South, you will hit Tresure Island, and St. Pete Beach. A fun place to stop for shopping and lunch, or dinner is www.johnspass.com . Alot of nice shops to browse through, restaurants, and great views from the boardwalk.

Cross the mouth of Tampa Bay going over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. Very nice views from the top of this bridge.

Anna Maria Island is different from Clearwater and St. Pete Beach. It is a much quieter and slower paced area. Not as commercial and built up.

Might enjoy some upper end shopping at St. Armands Circle in Sarasota. www.starmandscircleassoc.com .

Some other beaches heading South that you may want to look into are Longboat Key, and Siesta Key. And there is the best shelling in FL on Sanibel Island. South near Naples, is Marco Island.

Hey coupefletch,

Before you cross the Sunshine Skyway, stop by North Beach at Fort DeSoto Park. It has been named Best Beach in America. Very beautiful!

Upon entering the park, take a right at the huge flagpole. Drive to the end of the last parking lot to enter the beach. There are several beach areas within the park, but this is the best. It really is worth a visit.

For breakfast try the Clearwater Marina Restaurant just across the traffic circle from the Hilton.

It's only a small place (more like a diner) but the food is really good and prices are very reasonable.

A lot of the locals eat there so that is usually a good sign.
