We were thinking of bringing our golf cart. Is it ok to ride them around the town and area? It’s electric so not noisy
Read the document at this link put out by one of cart rental companies in Cedar Key.
When people say "golf cart" it means different things depending on how the vehicle is equipped. Is it street legal or just a regular golf cart like those commonly used in private communities.
Your basic golf cart. Electric. Pristine shape. It’s not a huge gas colf cart
If you're going to drive it on the street, it needs to be street legal -- seat belts, lights, turn indicators, etc., etc., etc. -- as well as having a license plate and being insured.
Not to differ with the other posters, but standard golf carts are perfectly acceptable and are the preferred mode of transportation in Cedar Key. This is what we have there. Cedar Key does NOT require that golf carts have turn signals, seat belts, license plates or be “street legal.” Those are simply not required, per the rules in Cedar Key.
What is NOT permitted is any kind of UTV.
Thank you! I did more research and noticed that golf carts a mode of transportation. Kinda thought the seat belt and turn signal items were a bit out there. Ours is basic, clean and has head lights and back lights. Plus it’s insured. Our dog loves to ride on it. Thought it would be fun.
Thank you again.
