Frightland

Has anyone else been to Frightland in Middletown Delaware? After driving by it daily on our way to work for years, we finally gave in to our curiosity and went there last weekend. We signed up for an online coupon and got $5 per person off our admission. We got the "basic fright pass" for $25 each, which would get us into all of the rides as well as ride on all of the carnival rides.

We actually had a great time, and thought it was a pretty good deal. We got there before 6:00 pm, and were not charged the $4.00 parking fee advertised on the website. We walked around and looked at the carnival rides, but there were none that piqued our interest enough to go on, though there were absolutely no lines for the carnival rides at all.

We really loved the haunted hayride. It lasted for what seemed close to an hour. There were lots of things to see on the ride, with some of the "haunted attractions" very professionally done, and it was a lot of fun when the costumed characters would suddenly appear out of the corn fields to scare you or jump onto the hay wagon. This was our favorite attraction.

We went through all 8 of the attractions, with the Attic being another of our favorites. The lines were very long by the time we got off of the hayride, but we stuck it out because we knew this would probably be a one time visit for us, only because I just hate waiting in line. It was as much fun to watch the cast of scary characters come and scare someone, as well as watching people's reactions to being scared. They really did a great job.

We were surprised at how good and inexpensive the food was here. Pretty good burgers were around $2.50 each, and french fries that were absolutely fresh, the woman in the booth was peeling the potatoes to fry right in front of us. A good deal.

This was a fun attraction. I was surprised at the number of parents that insisted on bringing little children with them to go through the haunted attractions. It is not recommended on Frightland's website, and in my opinion the attractions were way too intense for a small child. The little kids we saw with their parents on the hayride were terrified, and crying, which kind of dampened the fun for everyone else. They should not have been there.

The closer to Halloween you get, the more crowded this place becomes. I understand it is also open through the week after Halloween, and that might be a good time to go, since it may be less busy.

Anyone else been here. What are your thoughts?

Thank you for posting your experience. I have never been in the area during Halloween, but I have driven by the silo too many times to count. I have always wondered what was there. They have a web site with good information.
