Ski School for our 3 year old -- Buttermilk or Snowmass?

Question

Trying to decide whether to put our 3 year old son in ski school at Buttermilk or Snowmass.  We will be staying in Aspen town so Buttermilk is much closer.  He was in ski school last year at Buttermilk.  We're thinking of doing full-day ski school for him this year for 4-5 days and thought perhaps we should give strong consideration to Snowmass (despite distance) because of the Treehouse faciiities.  Any thoughts on the Treehouse?  is it extremely busy?  How are the facilities?  Do the kids actually enjoy being there?  We had previously picked Buttermilk in part because we thought it would be less crowded/more sane.  We will be going in March, which is peak season.  Also, any thoughts re: kids ski school at Buttermilk v. Snowmass?

Thanks very much. We may try both and let our son decide. One concern: he may like playing at the Treehouse so much that he may resist venturing outside for the ski lesson!

My vote would be Snowmass and Treehouse. But I would also comment that particularly as your son gets older, I would stay as a family at Snowmass and ski there. Has the variety and challenge for parents and also great facilities for kids and then you don't have to do any transport to and from mountains. Depends how into skiing the parents are. If you are more interested in the social/shopping side, then stick to staying in Aspen. I have been going to Aspen for 35 years and learned to ski there, particularly at Buttermilk. Best mountains are Snowmass and Highlands.

Hi, Does anyone know how far the Westin Snowmass is from the ski school drop off place (where is that)? Is it walking distance, on the shuttle route, etc. Thanks!

Get your skis on go to the bottom of Fanny Hill. I'd say about 100 yards. You can also take the "skittle" gondola that boards at the Mall. Can't miss it.
