Colorado Springs/Manitou Springs at Thanksgiving

Road trip from Dallas to Colorado Springs at Thanksgiving. Good or bad time to go?

How is the weather that time of year? Will we need special clothing/shoes? Will there be snow?

Help us with our Itinerary. Fill in open spots or rearrange.

~Wed. Nov 21: Stop at Royal Gorge on our way in around 1:00 pm. Then on to the hotel in Manitou Springs (Travel Lodge Ore Mill Rd) Anyone stayed there recently?

~Thanksgiving Day Nov. 22: Pikes Peak. Will it be crowded. Drive or Cog? How long will we spend there?

~Friday Nov. 23 (last day): Garden of the Gods.

Other things we might like to do while there :

An easy hike (where, when?)

Colorado Springs Ghost Town Museum? Cost?

Red Rock Canyon? Cost?

Helen Hunt falls?

Cave of the Winds? Do we have to take a tour or can we go it alone? Cost?

What is "Tasting the Mineral Springs"? Where?

Thanks for your help.

Thanksgiving in Co Springs can be warm or cold, dry or snowy. I've seen all types of weather over the past 20 years of visiting family there. Check this link for info and links to attractions. http://www.visitcos.com/

Wed. Nov 21: Royal Gorge is not a stop on the way from Dallas, but a side trip and I would skip it with only a few days. Arrive in Co Springs and do cog railway or just visit places around town.

Thanksgiving Day Nov. 22: Cog Railway is closed, so pick another day for that. Garden of the Gods this day. Cave of the Winds you have to do tour per their website.

Friday Nov. 23 (last day): Cog Railllway.
