Tomn3, Cindy K just did this scenic route and replied back about how gorgeous it was. That reminded me about your question.
Go to www.mapquest.com and get directions using these stops.
The historic towns of Idaho Springs and Georgetown
Mount Evans Scenic Byway www.mountevans.com You would want to enter the byway from Bergen Park to Echo Lake.
Peak to Peak Scenic Byway from Black Hawk to Estes Park
fv pointed out a nice route .... only one thing .. the fossil beds are in florissant and not along the way but a good20 mins each way past your turn on 67.
along the way are great views and the dinosaur research center though.
you are also passing right by the pikes peak tollroad .
Spammie, I know Florissant is a side trip--on Cindy's post, I told her it added 40 minutes driving time round trip. Georgetown and Idaho Springs and Mount Evans are all side trips as well but they are basically along the way. Tomn3 will want to look at the options and sites given and pick which are of interest.Edited: 08 June 2012, 04:19

Thanks for the route. Printed out and ready. We'll need to stop along the way for some lunch. Any recommendations for a local (non chain) lunch in one of these towns?
