Mountains and hiking

I am still looking for "the perfect" place for our last night after spending time in Monterey and Cambria. My daughter loves the mountains and I would like for her to see the redwoods and to hike some. However, I just saw an advertisement for Blackridge Wineries- the property looked like where she would love to stay although I know that is not feasible. Any suggestions on where we could stay for a view like that, but still close enough that we could go to Big Basin or Henry Cowell for the day (preferably Big Basin-I understand it is a bit more "wow!"

Personally for me the wow factor belongs to the very nice mile or so long nature trail in Henry Cowell but both are nice, So I would do both and be sure to do the nature trail and visit the small museum at Henry Cowell.

In this area, there are no WOW places tos stay but a couole of suggestions are

Hilton in Scotts Valley

Chaminade - again dated, but nice views and a redwood forest that one can walk to

Not in the Santa Cruz Mountains, but Mountain Home Inn in Marin County has those WOW views and is close to Muir Woods and Mt Tamp for hiking in redwoods. We have been to a wedding here and the views with the fog in the trees are surreal.
