Day trip from Brussels

Hello, what is the best train/bus route to Beersel for a day trip from Brussels? Also, I see that Oud Beersel is only open for tours every other Saturday, but is there a pub nearby that serves their beers on other days?

It would have been useful to know where you wanted to start from in Brussels!

By train, you can depart from Bruxelles-Nord, -Central or -Midi but you have to change at Halle, total journey time 36-47 and Beersel station is very close to the castle. Cost is €2.80 single, €5.60 return on a weekday.

By bus, De Lijn bus 154 goes direct to Beersel - on the way to Halle - from e.g. La Roue/ Het Rad or CERIA /Coovi metro stations or the stop Kruispunt Stalle (Carrefour Stalle), which is close to the route of (pre-)metro line 7 (metro map: stib-mivb.be/irj/…Plan_M_10-2015.pdf - near Erasmus on line 5); and has several stops in Beersel including Gemeenteplein, closest to the castle (not as close as the station) and Oud Beersel itself, 3 stops further down Laarheidestraat (https://www.delijn.be/en/lijnen/lijn/3/154/1). Cost is €3 each way buying individual tickets, which you can do from the bus driver.

I imagine most local cafés and eateries in Beersel will stock local beers - although Oud Beersel isn't actually mentioned here https:/… - also, Oud Beersel brewery has a shop. But you don't have to go to Beersel just for that anyway: in Brussels, Poechenellekelder has Oude Oud Beersel (under "geuzes et lambics") and Kriek Oud Beersel, at least (http://www.poechenellekelder.be/ - click on the symbols on the left for the different types of beer) and Moeder Lambic Fontainas may well stock these too, there are certainly plenty from 3 Fonteinen in their list (see http://www.moederlambic.com/ and click on "télécharger la carte bouteilles", bottom right, to download pdf file). I presume Delirium must also have them, as it has about 2000 beers on its menu.

Thank you for your response! We are staying near Grand Place. I stopped at Poechenellekelder briefly last time I was in Brussels, it's good to know they'd have Oud Beersel. I looked at 3 Fonteinen's website before and there was no mention of Oud Beersel.

I would hardly expect the 3 Fonteinen pub/restaurant, which belongs to the 3 Fonteinen Brewery (also in Beersel) to stock the products of a rival brewery such as Oud Beersel!

If you think you are referring to something I said about 3 Fonteinen, what I wrote was that Moeder Lambic Fontainas in Brussels stocks 3 Fonteinen beers and may well stock Oude Beersel products also.
