Whale watching in October?

We will be visiting next week (day trip with the kids from our day off of DL). We would love to do a whale watching tour. How is it this time of year and who do you recommend? Also, what other things do you recommend doing? Thank you!

Flip a coin between Davey's Locker and Newport Landing. They are practically side by side on the Balboa Peninsula. Go on the first tour of the day.

After you can have lunch at Ruby's at the end of the Balboa Pier or over on Balboa Island.

There are tidepools in Corona del Mar at Little Corona Beach.

Or tidepools in Laguna Beach at Heisler Park.
